3D Imaging
Advanced Treatment Planning and Better Clinical Outcomes
At Napa Sonoma Oral Surgery & Dental Implants, we keep up to date on the latest advancements and technology in oral and maxillofacial surgery. At our state-of-the-art practice, our office is equipped with 3D cone beam CT scanners and 3D intraoral scanners. Both of these create three-dimensional imagery to gain a detailed understanding of your unique facial structure and condition.
3D cone beam CT scanners are used to visualize the underlying structures of your mouth, while 3D intraoral scanners are used to create digital images of your teeth and gums. You may receive one or both of these scans during your first visit or throughout your treatment journey to monitor progress.
Both of these technologies expedite your treatment process by eliminating the need for messy tray impressions and additional appointments and allow us to view results right away. We can even electronically send this information to your referring dentist or other specialists taking part in your care. For dental implant patients, these images can be sent to your referring dentist’s preferred laboratory for the custom fabrication of your crown.
Benefits of 3D Imaging
By using high-tech scanning equipment and technology, we can more accurately diagnose oral and maxillofacial problems, monitor treatment, and operate with precision when performing surgery. 3D imaging provides many benefits to both you and your surgeon, including:
- High resolution three dimensional images are produced and able to be viewed from virtually any angle
- More complex conditions can be diagnosed
- Nerves can be detected prior to surgery so surgeons can avoid them
- Scans are comfortable and completed in seconds
- Patients are exposed to less radiation than traditional X-rays
- Facial bones and soft tissues can be monitored throughout recovery to ensure optimal results
